Computer is a machine that performs various sorts of operations owing to the betterment of human lives. In this article we have broadly discussed about “What is computer”, basic of computer and its tremendous features, wide range, different units, evolution and generations. 

A computer is an electronic device that can help solve problems by accepting raw data as input and processes it and perform certain operations whether logical or arithmetic with the help of a set of instructions called Program.

A computer has the ability to store, retrieve and  produce results by processing the raw data. A computer accepts the data through input devices and generate results of the processing through output devices.

With the help of a computer we can prepare documents, play games, Edit images, draw pictures, browse the internet, send emails, doing banking related works, attend or give online classes, control huge machines which is difficult to operate manually with hands etc.

Now a day’s Computer is very essential in every fields, with the help of this all works are seems very easy and one can do works easily. For example an architecture can prepare its 3 dimensional(3D) models for his projects and can easily clear the doubts of his clients, a businessman can properly manage its goods in the warehouse by the help of spreadsheets etc.

What is Hardware and Software?

Before we go ahead in this article “What is computer” let’s we discuss about two main units of a computer namely Hardware and Software. We use different hardware resources of a computer with the help of software’s and achieve our objectives.

Hardware:-

The mechanical, electrical and electronic parts of computer are called computer hardware. In a simple words the parts of a computer system that we can touch and see are hardware. Input, output, storage, processing and control devices of a computer system are called hardware.

Ex:- Keyboard, mouse, hard disk, monitor, printer, scanner, speaker, processor, mother board etc.

Software:-

We write instructions to get out work accomplished by the computer. A set of those instructions (commands) is known as a program and group of programs to carry out a particular task is called software. In a simple words what we can’t touch are software’s. 

Software’s make use of computer resources. In order to use computer resources in various fields, different type of software’s are used. In market thousand of software’s are available and one can use them according to his requirements. But there are two main kinds 1) System Software, 2) Application software.

What are the different types of computers?

When we all hear the word “computer”, first the image of a personal computer is blink in our mind. But computer means is not only personal computer. Since the world is moving ahead with super technologies and in 20th century computer means it may be a desktop computer, laptop, palmtop, tablet, mobile phones, smart watches etc
